I took two of these tablets at night, plus kirkland fish oil a couple times a day- and artichoke extract (jarrow brand) my cholesteral was lower overall by ten points and hdl was in "best" range for a 40+ female. Overall better than last years cholesteral results and i havent been exercising like i should, just walking dogs here and there. I wanted to add red yeast capsules too (natural statin) but my doctor said didnt think necessary as my cholesteral has always been under 200. Why run one more thing thru your stomach he said, But as i age, i might add it anyway despite what he says. Cutting out most carbs and sugar and of course adding more cardio would help me even more. My husband does similar supplements but has pretty much eliminated all sugars from diet (even OJ) and only eats 20 carbs a day, he lost 20 lbs in a just few months (and he wasnt overweight to begin with) & his total cholesteral is now 117! (Before over 200). Eat lots of beans, oatmeals and apples too. Helps lower cholesteral naturally and you'll feel much better / have more energy.After being prescribed statin meds for my creeping cholesterol problem and not liking them because 1) my muscles killed me when skiing, and 2) I couldn't eat fresh grapefruit, I cheated my doctor after web research where I found numerous successful studies showing Polycosanol lowered cholesterol dramatically. I instead took 10 mg Polycosanol and 65 mg CoQ10 daily for three months instead of the statin he prescribed which said "no grapefruit" at the same time I had a refrigerator full of it. I did my blood draw just before I went to my doctor as scheduled. He said, "how do you like this statin because your cholesterol is surprisingly already down in the safe zone". I confessed to him what I had done, along with somewhat more exercise over the summer. He was truly surprised at the quick drop in cholesterol, said he didn't know anything about Polycosanol but to keep it up. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to not be on statins! More exercise is important too!It's May 2013 and I'm still taking this Policosanol and it still works. Two important things to add: 1) it must be made from sugar cane as this one is or it doesn't work for me and 2) I'm now cutting the tablets in half because 10mg daily causes my blood to thin so much that I can bleed too easily from nosebleeds or from scratching small scabs. Still thrilled that I'm not on statins!!My doctor told me that she wanted to put me on statins to lower my cholesterol so she gave me a script. I went to my health food store and spoke with the nutritionist about statins because I have heard so many negative things about what statins do to us. She recommended policosanol with CoQ10 (you must have CoQ10 with it to help the body process it). I started taking the recommended dosage of two tablets before retiring at night. My doctor was shocked at the results. My LDL went down 60 points in 6 weeks. We were so excited about the LDL that I don't remember what she said about the HDL. Now I am on a maintenance schedule of 1 tablet daily and my blood test results are normal. Remember, you must have some cholesterol in your body to manufacture essential hormones and for the body to function normally.I am ever so grateful for policosanol. I'm usually pretty skeptical on these things, but thought what did I have to lose. My cholestrol was high and suppliment was derived from natural sources. It is a great suppliment. My cholesterol was lower and I experienced less inflammation. I liked the results so much that I am now on automatic shipment from Amazon. I like the convenience of having it shipped straight to my door, and the assurance that I won't run out of this suppliment.I use this for both my MVD dog and my pancreatitis dog.
