I ordered this tablet for my toddler who is three and really enjoys technology. He has already explored his leapfrog and Little Apps tablet. He knows his alphabet, numbers, and so much more from using these little devices. I wanted to find something else now that he could explore. I have pursued a new computer type of learning device and have looked heavily at the options available. I read through the reviews on this tablet and decided to give it a go. The screen does scratch as I have read. The touch pen provided is soft on the top but if it is jabbed excitedly at the screen, it will easily scratch the screen. This happened within the first hour of my toddler enjoying the tablet. I synced it up on my computer with leap connect to ensure I had all the appropriate software. There are things that can be purchased as well. There are a lot of demos and many games are provided. It takes some time to turn on when the button is hit. There is a neat coin store where the child can buy new things with coins they have earned from games and unlock more content based on their achievements. He was able to play a lot of the games but others were too complicated. Sometimes the pen would not pick up the object and even when I tried. This was confusing to him and he was doing it correctly. We had a couple of times of tears because of the Leap Ultimate. Even with assistance, he became unimpressed and unhappy with the tablet. The content may be appropriate for a slightly older child. Instead, I have decided to go with something else that has a two-year (no matter what) warranty and endless content provided for a full year. I can also watch his progress while he learns and explores. This just wasn't up his ally. It also needs a lot of extra purchases when the content is fully explored. It has a spot for cartridges. The Leap Ultimate is not listed under the devices that are supported by leap connect subscription. I suspect that the subscription will develop new games over time. However, the new device I ordered can still use leap Academy technology when I get a subscription. It seems a little counterproductive to have this when it scratches easily and the content has not been as entertaining for him. I can easily install leap Academy content on his new device. This same content can be explored on devices I already own. Leap Academy is compatible with LeapPad® Academy, LeapFrog Epic™, Epic™ Academy Edition, VTech® KidiBuzz™ or Amazon Fire® tablets!!!; Windows® or macOS® computers; and most Android™ or iOS® phones and tablets using a Wi-Fi connection. Bottom Line- I do still think this could be some fun for older children. However, I have found another option that has content that is up to his ally as he grows and can download the content that is on this device with a separate subscription if I would like. It will grow with him now and will get new content over time as he gets older. The possibilities are endless with our new tablet but the possibilities seem somewhat limited with the Leap Ultimate.Great thing for my kid. He loves it. It is surprisingly durable. The string that holds the pencil to the pad is incredibly strong.Very good new and works wellBought this for my almost 3 yr old, he loves it! Has a large variety of games and age appropriate activities. I haven't messed with it much so I'm not sure if there is an adult profile you can access, we have had no issues with him clicking his profile, he carries it around by the stylus on the string which drives me crazy, I looked for carrying cases with handles and unfortunatly as they have a wide variety of silicone cases and zip up style cases, I was unable to find anything close to the cases I bought for other regular tablets, so that's my only negative really except the power button has to be held down for a few seconds before it turns on so he always brings it to me to turn on... came with good quality tight fitted charger and transfer cable (do not charge with transfer cable it gets very hot and I started to smell burning plastic when I was using it to charge my phone) also I normally am very against charging while in use but it tells you to charge during set up and it's a very strong charging prong. Would definetly buy another. My son LOVES this toy! I've lost count, but I'm sure we've gotten him a dozen over the years and pray they never discontinue it. Due to temporary component shortage, I've just bought 4 more so hopefully we can keep him going for years. We load his favorite videos and he plays them all day long. No other toy stands up to him like these! Even the newer model just doesn't cut it. He can wipe out the Android version in mere minutes, but not the Ultimate! He's severely handicapped and 35 years old, but he just loves these. Anyone who does not rate these perfectly can please contact me and I will probably buy yours, too. Can't imagine his life without them! I give the the highest rating of any similar toy on the market!A Christmas gift for my 5 year old daughter, she loved it ! I needed a tablet that could help her learn to read cause she has been struggling and this was perfect ! I was going to go with a regular tablet and just download learning apps but at 5 she tends to leave things around and I also have a 2 year old son that loves to throw things lol Idk how many times it's done been thrown or dropped since she got it but it still works perfectly and the screen is still intact... The only con to this is sometimes it won't connect to our home wifi, we have to turn it on and off a few times before it will let it connect, also I have a 10 year old son who use to have leapfrog when he was younger so when I set up this tablet I used my old account and now she can play all the games I bought years ago so it saved me money too !I bought two of these for my kids. I was reluctant to get tablets for them, but i loved the idea of the leapfrog ( learning games and videos)These are the BEST! They came with a ton of games and apps for my kids to use, the parental controls allow you to set it up exactly how you want it. My boys play for hours on the apps that came preinstalled, and the battery life! The battery life is incredible lasts for around 9-10 hours. And my toddlers have definitely put these through the test. They are EXTREMELY durable and can handle the rough life of a toddler, which I love cause these were not cheap. I also love that there is a spot for cartridges, so you can buy extra games for them to be playing and learning with! Both of my toddlers are already starting to recognize full words because of these tablets!!I purchased this item because it is supposed to be compatible with cartridges used with previous models but there it's a glitch. I'm getting error message saying it the games are not compatible with model which is disappointing because I have 10 cartridges. I got 1 to work. And they are in great condition. I recommend you download and install games as oppose to buying cartridgesPros:It's entertainment for as long as your kid is clicking on the included apps.Cons:Painfully slow compared to a real tabletThe $198 additional value doesn't appear to be what it says on the boxThey cleverly load up all the apps that aren't free and of course your kid nags to play them ALL THE TIMEFor $130 + tax I was expecting more.I did read the reviews before I bought this and thought it couldn't be that bad but I was wrong.Don't waste your money.Decided to try this tab out after watching reviews, so got my toddler this for her 3rd birthday.Found it far to complicated for her, the features are lacking, and the apps are far too expensive. Decided to return it and got her an Android tab instead. It was half the price, and a much better option.I buy a « new » one but it’s clearly a refurbished one because the boxe is all teared up at the point the seller have to « close it wrongly to hide a hole in the boxe. It’s also have something look like blood on the charger plug ( picture don’t give justice to it) when we opened the tablettes we also know the previous kid name is Kay. Clearly not a new one. The scream have already kisse a floor somewhere because is already scratched. English casset fit but the software don’t support the French one. Awesome for a 8gig software….. hubby just told me the 100$ of included app is already used probably by the previous family who got scammed like us.Crapy seller. We already own a previous model of that tablette we bought at Toysrus and our older still play and love it. There’s why we had good wish on this one.Because of the cost I think it's good value. However, there have been several quirks and limitations to the piece already and we are three days into use. I purchased two of these. One for my daughter who is 4 and the other for my 3 year old son. First, upon set up when I was prompted to enter my child's age the years stopped at 1970. Clearly my child is not 40 years old. Second, the wifi would not connect to my daughter's system at all. I am still trying to figure out why. My son's wifi connects but always says that it is a weak connection. I have several other devices connected to my wifi (mac laptop, google home ect.) without any connection issues ever, so I don't believe it is an issue with my connection. Third, sometimes I have to try several times to get my daughter's system to start and will sometimes turn off at random. My son's does not do this. Overall, if you are able to spend the extra money I would recommend getting an iPad or something similar. The games are expensive (~19.99 per) and the system doesn't function as it is suppose to in my experience thus far. I may send them back.Update: the attached pencil broke off and the screen no longer works after a week. The wifi won't stay connected. We returned them. Not worth your money. Only get 100$ worth of stuff and it isn't much, everything cost (mainly 10$ and up) I got my kiddo 5 games and it used up the 8 gigs she had so unless you're ready to buy the pieces that go into it save your money. I got a kid friendly tablet from Amazon and we both love it was easier to use, more space, free stuff and it can go back into a normal table when shes older
